| Drive line
vibration will occur when lowering 1999-2004 Chevy extended cabs. Raising the
carrier bearing is necessary to remove the vibrations. DJM carrier bearing
bracket kit (#CB99) make this easy. The bracket is adjustable and can be used
on all DJM '99 Chevy Calmax kits, including rear leveling shackles. When the
installation of the lowering kit is complete, take vehicle for test drive. If
you experience some vibration at low speeds you will need to raise the carrier
bearing. |
|
DJM's CB99 Carrier Bearing
Bracket includes bolts, nuts and washer to attach the bracket to the factory
cross member. |
| The first step is to unbolt
the carrier bearing from the factory bracket. |
 |
 |
The factory bracket is
welded to the round cross member and must be removed. DJM uses a plazma cutter
to make this step easy. You can also use a die grinder to remove the bracket.
|
| With the factory bracket
removed, bolt the carrier bearing to the new DJM bracket. Clamp the bracket in
place and check the drive line angle. Raise or lower the bracket to adjust the
drive line angle. With the bracket in position, mark the location of the center
of the two elongated holes in the bracket on the cross member. You need to
drill 3/8" holes through the cross member. The elongated holes in the bracket
will allow some additional adjustment. |
 |
| With carrier
bearing installed, take vehicle for test drive. The vibrations should be gone,
but if you still have some, adjust the bracket up or down as needed. |
