| DJM
has found many installers are over tightening front sway bar end links. This
will cause the bolt to break. Please refer to the photos below to see the right
and wrong way the bolts are to be tightened. |
| When
installing sway bar end links on DJM's lower control arm kits, we suggest first
loosening the bolts holding the D-bushings to the frame. When installation is
complete, tighten the end link bolts then cycle the suspension a few times.
This will allow the sway bar to seat to the lowering kit. After cycling the
suspension then tighten the D-bushings. |
Sway Bar End Link with Correct Torque |
Left picture is
the correct installation. Notice there is about 2-3 treads past the nylock nut.
The right picture is incorrect installation. Look at the amount of
threads past the nut. This bolt is overtightened. |
Sway Bar Enk Link bolt Overtightened. |
|
Sway bar bolts only need to be tight enough so they do not move . Over
tightening bolts do not help the sway bar function in any way and only puts
unnecessary stress on the bolts. |
